Covid-19 Update

We are looking forward to welcoming guests to Westerton again. In line with government guidelines, we have introduced a number of safety and
hygiene measures to minimise the risk of transmission of Coronavirus at Westerton, and to ensure that everyone has a safe stay. We need your help too and thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding at this unprecedented time.

Should you have any symptoms of Covid19 in the 14 days prior to your arrival, please contact us to reschedule or cancel your reservation.

We hope you have a safe and enjoyable stay.

Prior To Arrival

We have introduced a minimal contact check in. There will be no Registration Form to complete on arrival. It is important that you provide us with the following details for all guests in your party, by email or phone prior to your arrival.

We have a legal obligation to record this information in the event that it is required by NHS Scotland Test and Protect:
Full names
Full postal address
Contact telephone number
Email address

Please also let us know in advance if you have any special requirements eg. hypoallergenic bedding, extra pillows etc as we will not enter your room after it has been sanitised prior to your arrival.

For guests staying on a Bed and Breakfast basis please let us know in advance if you have any special dietary requirements.
It is important that you make all reservations at local restaurants, cafes, pubs in advance of your stay. All of the local eateries are quite small and have reduced capacity due to social distancing regulations. You may find it difficult to make last minute reservations. We will include a list of local eateries in your confirmation email.

Check-In/Arrival and Social Distancing

Please contact us to arrange a suitable arrival time between 16.00 and 19.00 hours. We aim to stagger guest’s arrival times to ensure everyone’s safety. We are sorry that early check in is not available due to the time required for airing, pre-sanitising, deep cleaning and re-sanitising rooms.
When you arrive at Westerton, please ring the outside doorbell, step back from the door and wait for us outside, even if the door is open.

Please wear masks when entering the house until you get to your room. Masks must be worn in all indoor common areas throughout your stay. Please use hand sanitizer every time you enter and exit the house. Hand sanitiser will be provided at the entrance if you haven’t brought your own.

We are unable to assist with luggage.

Please maintain a safe social distance of at least 2 metres from anyone who is not in your party. As the risk of transmission of Coronavirus is much greater indoors please avoid lingering in the Breakfast Room and all common areas.

We no longer serve tea on arrival but a jar of Lesley’s homemade shortbread will be waiting for you in your room.

To maintain social distancing and minimise the risk of transmission of Coronavirus the Breakfast Room is not available for guest use other than at breakfast time.

The Drying Room facility is not available due to the risk of transmission of coronavirus.

Secure indoor cycle storage is not available due to the risk of transmission of Coronavirus.

You are welcome to use the garden at Westerton throughout your stay but please be mindful of others and maintain a safe social distance of at least 2 metres from anyone who is not in your party.

To reduce the risk of transmission of Coronavirus we have removed all Tourist Information leaflets, maps, torches and umbrellas from the entrance hallway. There will be increased cleaning and sanitising of frequently touched surfaces in the communal hallway, entrance and stairs.

Your Room

Room keys will be sanitised. Your room will have been cleaned and sanitised (using solutions complying with BS
EN 1276, BS EN 1650, BS EN 13697 and BS EN 14476) prior to your arrival. We will not enter your room during your stay. To comply with Covid guidelines, there will be no routine room servicing during your stay. For guests staying more than 3 nights, a mid -stay clean can be arranged, if requested, at a mutually convenient time.

You can request extra supplies from us by completing the request form in your room if you would like any extra supplies of tea, coffee, clean towels, toilet rolls etc. Please leave us the form at breakfast time. Items requested will be left outside yourroom door.

Bin emptying, please tie up your bin bag and place bin outside your room door, your empty bin will be left outside your door.

Your television remote control will be in a sanisited sealed bag. Please do not remove it from the bag.

We have removed our Guest information folders from rooms. Extra pillows, blankets, decorative items, cushions, bedspreads, DVDs etc have also been
removed to minimise the risk of transmission.

There are no cooking facilities for guest use at Westerton. Please do not consume hot food in your guest bedroom (sandwiches etc are fine). Guests are welcome to use the terrace and garden if they wish to have a take-away dinner.

Breakfast is ordered in advance and your breakfast menu for the next morning will be in your room. Breakfast is table service only, we are not currently permitted to offer a breakfast buffet.

Please bring your completed breakfast menu downstairs and leave on the hall sideboard by 20.00 hours.

Breakfast will be served in the Breakfast Room. To maintain social distancing we need to stagger breakfast times, and we may ask guests to change their preferred breakfast time. Tables will be placed at a safe distance apart in line with social distancing regulations. Please do not approach or touch any breakfast table or chairs other than your own. Please wear a mask at all times when not seated at your table eating breakfast.

The Breakfast Room will be cleaned, sanitised and closed for guest use after breakfast time so it is safe and ready for the next morning.


We have introduced a contactless check out in line with Covid guidelines.

Full payment of your stay will have been taken 3 weeks prior to your arrival.

Please vacate your room no later than 10.30 am.

Please leave bedroom/bathroom windows open to allow air to circulate.

Please place all used towels in the bin bag provided and tie it.

Please tie up your waste bin bags.

If you have used the guest hairdryer in your room please leave it out so it can be fully sanitised.

Please leave your keys in your room door and close the door. If you develop any symptoms or signs of Covid-19 after your stay, please let
us know immediately.

What to do if you develop signs or symptoms of Covid-19 during your stay

If you develop signs or symptoms of Covid-19 during your stay, please call our house phone (01877 330147) or mobile (07395 222778) immediately, please do not leave your room. You should book a Covid Test immediately via or by telephoning: 0800 028 2816.
In line with Government guidance, if you are well enough to travel you will be asked to check out immediately in order to self-isolate at your home address. If you are not well enough to travel home please follow the official guidance below. You will be
expected to pay all associated costs. Should your symptoms become worse you should seek medical advice.

Official guidance from the Scottish Government:
“In accordance with Test and Protect, people with symptoms are required to self- isolate for 10 days, and everyone in their household should isolate for 10 days. If the test is negative, everyone can end isolation. If the test is positive, everyone should continue to isolate, and the NHS Test and Protect team will be in touch to start contact tracing. Those contacted through the Test and Protect programme will be required to self-isolate for at least 10 days.  If guests who are isolating can travel home safely to isolate, avoiding the use of public transport, they should do this.  In the event that this is not possible, the guest should discuss this with the NHS Test and Protect team. The guest may be signposted to the National Assistance Helpline
on 0800 111 4000 if they need help to isolate and cannot arrange it themselves or through friends and family. In some circumstances further discussion may be required with the local Health Protection Team and local authority to ensure that the person has suitable accommodation to isolate safely and effectively. After the required period of self-isolation, guests and anyone else in their party who has been affected can then return to their main place of residence.”

The above represents a sample of the new health and safety measures being implemented at Westerton B&B. This list is not exhaustive, it will be reviewed and re- evaluated regularly and is subject to change based on the guidance of the WHO, Scottish Government and Stirling Council.
